Results of a militant investigation to record local discussions about transnational organization in Europe and collective brainstorming about next steps
The workshop will introduce a militant investigation that has been carried out in September in November with the aim of “making a listening-based contribution to a European organization process” and open the project for collaboration. The militant investigation involved meetings with persons active in the coordination and organization of protests against austerity and the creation of alternatives across Europe with the aim of transmitting knowledge between local contexts.
Specifically, in Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Ljubljana and Rome, “sessions of collective listening and discussion” were organized, where activists came together to communicate about transnational organization in Europe. The goal of the meetings was two-fold: 1) to open a space of collective reflection and discussion on this topic in each city, and 2) to record the discussions as they are taking place in each city, in order to spread this information to the other cities.
So, the workshop in Madrid will present results of this first round of meetings (participants will be sent summaries of the local meetings beforehand so they come prepared) and will aim to enter into a discussion based on this new shared knowledge of one another. In the workshop we will collectively evaluate the results and brainstorm how to further use the knowledge produced by this project to advance a common framework for understanding the European dimension, building alternatives, sharing praxis and common mobilizations. For this purpose, it is desirable to have people who participated in each local discussion participate in the workshop, but it is also open to all of Agora99.
